2018 Chevrolet Spark – Keep up the Good Work

The Chevy Spark ongoing model is already two years old and time is about right for a Detroit-based company to freshen it up a bit. The current generation of this small car impressed with its fuel efficiency and room offered despite being in mini segment. It is smallest Chevy ever made, and thus it is perfect for city driving and easy to park. All of this, combined with the low price, made the Spark very desirable, and it was selling very well in the last two years. Now, the car market tide shifted once more, and this vehicle is losing its market share to bigger and better-equipped sedans. Michigan company is due to change something, and these improvements will be implemented with 2018 Chevrolet Spark.

Exterior design of 2018 Chevrolet Spark

The look that the first generation of Spark had was dubbed a toy-like. With exterior improvements made trough years Spark was given a more serious appearance and now with new model work on this should be continued. A new grill and a more pronounced hood combined with a new pair of headlights should do the trick up front. Regarding dimensions 2018 Spark won’t be tempered with because in case that this car becomes any bigger it will lose some of its appeals and could be dropped from the mini segment. Looking at the back, Spark should be made a little, but not much, sportier. Losing some of its flat back looks wouldn’t be all that bad. New taillights with a more sharper bumper should be the only changes.

2018 Spark Interior

On the inside, this vehicle will hopefully continue to do what it was doing so far. 2018 Chevrolet Spark will follow in steps of its predecessors and leave the competition behind regarding features that it offers. Unlike any of the competitors, Chevy’s small car offers WiFi hotspot, ten airbags, a rearview camera, parking sensors, lane departure warning, blind-spot alert, and forward-collision alert. It is worth mentioning that most of this equipment usually doesn’t come as standard in this segment, not even on higher trims.

2018 Chevrolet Spark Engine

Even if Spark name associates you with electric vehicles, this model is not one of those. It doesn’t even come with a hybrid option. The latest edition of Spark was powered by a 1.4-liter four-cylinder available with 98 horsepower, and this won’t change with 2018 MY. This powertrain comes with a five-speed manual transmission as standard. CVT (continuously variable transmission) is offered as an optional feature, and it provides better fuel-efficiency, but it takes something out of driving feel. The central aspect of Spark’s sales is its mpg ratio which stands at 29/38 mpg city/highway or 33 mpg when combined with a 5-speed manual, and 30/38 City/Highway or 33 mpg combined when the engine is mated to a CVT.

2018 Chevy Spark Price

The price for current Spark goes from $13,875 for an LS trim with manual gearbox all up to $16,800 for the 1LT version with the CVT transmission. Despite the changes that are inevitably going to happen the price for 2018 Chevrolet Spark will remain the same as it is today. There is a real possibility that it might come with a smaller price tag because it now has a need to reestablishes itself on the market.

New Spark Release date

The work on new model probably started already because 2017 MY is around for some time now and it needs improvement. This is not one of the most prominent vehicles in Chevrolet’s lineup so that it won’t merit any special introduction. Expect 2018 Spark in the dealerships by the end of 2017.

Competitors

It doesn’t make us happy to say this, but one of the main reasons for why is the Spark one of the best models in its class is not lying solely on its shoulders. The competitors in shape of Smart ForTwo, Fiat 500 and 2017 Mitsubishi Mirage make the job much easier for Spark. Only decent rival is MINI Cooper, but it has a much higher price tag, so Spark seems like a smarter option to everyone.
