It all started when Simca, a French automaker, bought Ford’s French factory and with it, they also bought the Vedette sedan that ran on the 2.3L flathead Ford V-8. Chrysler then bought Simca in 1963. It started shipping all the tooling needed for engines and cars to its Brazilian branch. Due to the fierce competition, the original Ford engine of 1932 got fitted with brand new heads that used hemispherical combustion chambers (Emi-Sul). They were based on the 1950s Ardun Cylinder heads, and they had been produced for 37 years. Finally, in 1969 the production was stopped.
